What can you expect during an audit?
When contacting Energy RaterCorp to schedule your energy rating, there a few things that we will need to know before we continue. We need to know the estimated square footage of your house, the type of foundation and the type of heating and cooling you have.
Also, we will need to know information about your monthly energy bills for the past 12 months. This will help show how much you will be able to save!
A typical inspection for an energy rating normally takes about 4 hours.
Your Certified Energy Rater will always arrive on time as scheduled. However, if there is any reason that the rater will not be able to make said time or will be running late, we will be sure to let you know.
An energy rating involves inspections of both the interior as well as the exterior of your home. Certain weather conditions may prevent us from being able to perform the inspection as scheduled. If such a situation arises, we will contact you to reschedule your inspection at a time that is convenient for you. An energy rating involves inspections of both the interior as well.
The energy rating begins with a detailed visual inspection of both the interior and exterior of your home. Attics, basements, crawl spaces, appliances, and windows will all be checked. Scientific equipment including blower fans and thermal cameras will all be used to identify the quality of your insulation, air leaks, and possible moisture problems in your home, moisture problems, etc.
Safety Note: As part of the inspection process, your rater will turn off all gas appliances. We will restore them to their normal operation setting when the inspection is complete.
After the results have been analyzed, the rater will provide you with a list of improvements that can save you money immediately.
